Getting accurate information about the type of visas or permits you need is an important part of preparing for a trip or stay abroad. To help you with this task, rather than reinvent the wheel with our own country listings, we have provided links to the most comprehensive databases of embassies and consulates both in the U.S. and abroad. We have also included companies that provide visa, work permit, and passport services. Before soliciting services from a consultant, we suggest contacting the respective embassy or consulate to get first-hand information about visa requirements and fees. If you know of other databases and links which you recommend, please note them in the comments section and we will review them for possible inclusion. See articles on The Visa Challenge and The Lowdown on Work Permits Abroad for a discussion of the many types of available visas and work permits—Travel and Living Abroad Contributing Editor Volker Poelzl |
