Matt Gibson's Articles and Columns for Transitions Abroad

Matt Gibson is a Canadian expatriate who has traveled on four continents. Because of that he’s spent less than two months out of the last six years in Canada. Matt doesn’t really miss living in Canada, but he misses his family a lot.

Some highlights of his travels include: swimming with whale sharks in the Philippines, being caught in a rip tide on a small island off the coast of Taiwan, eating Calamari sandwiches for breakfast in Spain, swimming in phosphorescence under the Northern lights in Canada, and being escorted into one of the largest Mayan ruins in Guatemala in the middle of the night by corrupt machine gun weilding guards.

Matt currently lives in Taiwan where he founded Xpat Magazine in 2005. After three years of editing and selling advertising he sold the magazine to travel in Central America and pursue his first passion—writing.  Matt has since returned to Taiwan where he studies Chinese, works as an editor and teacher at National Cheng Kung University, maintains his blog, www.matt-gibson.org, and freelances for various publications. Matt is currently working on his first book, a novel about expatriates in Taiwan.

Matt is happy to answer questions about himself and living in Taiwan. If you have any questions about Matt, or Taiwan, he can be reached at xpatmatt@gmail.com. You may also submit questions to Matt at the Ask Matt section of his site.
