Adventure in The Dominican Republic
By Kristin Carter
Caribbean Bike & Adventure Travel Tours is run by people who live in the Dominican Republic and use only environmentally conscious businesses and guides for all their services. For the client this means lower costs and special attention.
While working in Santo Domingo I organized a group of people to go on a jungle rappelling and canoeing trip. The total cost per person for a full-day excursion, lunch, insurance, equipment, tour guide, and transportation came to around $75. The tour guide was a local Dominican who knew the area and was a seasoned rappeller. None of us had rappelled before, and he gave us good information both about the jungle and rappelling.
This company supports the local economy and environment in many ways. They partner with a local store to donate school supplies to children; they donate their used bikes and other equipment to kids, and they protect their trails and keep them in good condition.
The company offers all types of packages and can cater to your needs whether you are a group or an individual. Check out their web site for more information: www.caribbeanbiketours.com.
