Study Abroad Opportunities in Mexico on the Web
By Ron Mader
University web sites provide an innovative learning environment: teachers use the web to conduct distance education classes and students participate in discussion groups with classmates around the world.
Foreigners looking to study in Mexico should look first at the following educational resources on the Web:
UNAM, www.unam.mx. Mexico's National Autonomous University of Mexico is by far the largest public university in all of Latin America. It also has one of the best academic web sites for students of all ages. Tune in to Radio UNAM, www.unam.mx/radiounam/htm/index.htm.
North American Educational Leadership network (El Net). Linking scholars in Canada, Mexico, and the U.S., El Net features a number of helpful resources, including newsgroups and a chat line; www.conahec.org/conahec/index.jsp.
Monterrey Tech: www.sistema.itesm.mx. This site would win several prizes for organization alone. The general information page, www.sistema.itesm.mx/sistema/ccomunica.html, has all the contacts needed by prospective students or faculty. Email: promocionsistema@mail.mty.itesm.mx.
Individual Sites
Universidad Intercontinental (www.uic.edu.mx)
Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana (www.uam.mx)
Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (www.itam.mx)
Universidad Anahuac (www.anahuac.mx)
Universidad Iberoamericana (www.uia.mx)
Indice: The following web site provides a detailed index of Mexican colleges and universities: Lanic-Mexico Universities (info.lanic.utexas.edu/la/mexico).
