Finding Expat Compatriots
By Laura Martz
Use the expat boards and lists below to get information about everything from restaurants to repatriation.
The Expat Exchange, www.expatexchange.com, runs country-focused email lists, with a promise of more to come, where people trade practical information about vital subjects like finding housing and getting visas.
There are also a couple of general message boards.
www.liveabroad.com: A magazine about specific countries plus links to many helpful web sites and classified ads.
www.escapeartist.com: Information, articles, and useful links to expat resources.
www.expatsite.com: Expat information arranged by channels including news, finance, education, migration, careers, sports, and more.
www.globalnomads.com: Job listings, expat mail, expat links, and articles.
www.outpostexpat.nl: Detailed information for expats arranged by geographical regions.
Live Radio on the Internet, www.live-radio.net/index.html, while not an expat site, links to live Internet feeds of more than 2,000 radio stations around the world, and its a dream for anyone pining for the language and music of another place. You can plug into a station, local or far-flung, and listen while you surf to other sites.
