From the Publisher

Welcome to Transitions Abroad! Whether you're a brand-new subcriber seeing Transitions Abroad for the first time or a veteran reader trying to ascertain if this colorful, redesigned magazine is really your faithful source of the best information for independent travelers, we're glad you're part of our community!

There's something about the year 2000. We just couldn't resist making big changes to go along with this big new year. One thing hasn't changed, however: Our commitment to bringing you the complete resources for the most enriching and rewarding international travel and life — from how to find a short-term job overseas to the joys of food and wine touring with the founder Clay Hubbs and his wife outside of Venice.

In the March/April issue we'll bring you all the info you need to take a vacation that reflects your interests — or, for you student readers, we plan the study abroad excursion of a lifetime! And I'll report on my recent trip to vibrant Rio de Janeiro.

I hope the new and improved Transitions Abroad will be no less exciting for you to read than it is for us to create.
