AA Caravan & Camping Europe 2004. (AA Publishing). Campground guide with over 3,500 campgrounds throughout Europe. More listings, but not all as thoroughly inspected as Alan Rogers' Guides (below).
Alan Rogers Good Camps Guides. A series of five guides covering continental Europe, France, Britain & Ireland, Italy, Spain & Portugal. Alan Rogers guides include 1,650 European campsites that the company has inspected. Order from www.alanrogers.com, where you can also browse all the listings and even book ferries and selected campsites.
Camping Europe by Carol Mickelsen (Carousel Press). Largely anecdotal book on car camping from an author with 25 years' experience. Puts you in the mood.
Europe by Van & Motorhome by David Shore and Patty Campbell (Odyssey Press). Includes everything involved with buying, renting, or simply surviving in an RV or camper in Europe.
Family Campers and RVers. 800-245-9755; www.fcrv.org. Family memberships in this camping organization are $25 and include children under 18. For an additional $20, members can purchase an International Camping Carnet.
Guide Officiel Camping/Caravaning. France camping guide from the Fedération Française de Camping et de Caravaning includes almost 9,000 sites in France. Order online for 16 euros at www.ffcc.fr (the site has lots of other great info in French).
Intercamper. www.intercamper.de/logo_e.htm. RV rentals from a German high-school principal. Barbara Lohmer will pick you up at the airport, stock your fridge, and otherwise hold your hand through your first family camping experience.
