Camping Europe by Carol Mickelsen (Carousel Press). Largely anecdotal book on car camping from an author with 25 years' experience. Puts you in the mood.
Europe by Van & Motorhome by David Shore and Patty Campbell (Odyssey Press). Includes everything involved with buying, renting, or simply surviving in an RV or camper in Europe.
Guide Officiel Camping/Caravaning. France camping guide from the Fedération Française de Camping et de Caravaning includes almost 9,000 sites in France. Order online for 16 euros at www.ffcc.fr (the site has lots of other great info in French).
Intercamper. www.intercamper.de/logo_e.htm. RV rentals from a German high-school principal. Barbara Lohmer will pick you up at the airport, stock your fridge, and otherwise hold your hand through your first family camping experience.
