Gap Year Advisory Services

Several companies maintain databases of gap year opportunities, mostly unpaid, and charge a fee to match the interests of clients (often young people aged 16-25) with suitable openings:

Maintains database of volunteer and internship opportunities abroad. Tries to match clients with suitable placements. Registration fee (CAN$350-$500 before tax) plus varying placement fees according to project. Guaranteed placement. Also recruits Canadians aged 19-30 for 6-month remunerated internships starting Aug./Sept., teaching English in Guatemala, Bolivia, Ecuador and Thailand, and doing HIV/AIDS work in Burkina Faso, Bangladesh, Ghana, and the Philippines.

Provides high school students and their families with a 6-month (for $80) or 12-month ($120) membership that includes: access to a searchable database of time-out opportunities; college guidance, and e-mail consultations with staff, and more.
